MAGIC
In the early 80’s, while working for “Rion & Esquerro” I was given the following job.
The “Magic” group consisted of four very popular discotheques; two in Mexico City - Bandasha and Magic, one in Cuernavaca - Kaova, one in Acapulco - Magic Circus. They all had different logos at the time but wanted to a uniform identity.
Because Discos were where young people went to “get laid” I came up with a concept that included a phallic symbol divided by some lines that partly represented an abstract vulva and partly "light" and “movement”. Simple! Also the sometimes joined text would evoke that "getting together"
The client liked it and so these designs were born and lived throughout the rest of the 80’s and maybe the 90’s too.
