CONTINENTAL

 

 One of my first "identity" jobs in Mexico was at Rion & Esquerro where I started working in early 1978. The job was to design a Logo – now called “Imagotype” (and hundreds of it’s applications) for “El Continental,” a famous hotel on Mexico City’s Reforma Avenue.

 

The task included signage for the whole hotel and branding for all their restaurants. I actually spent four days at the hotel, ate at all the restaurants, including their nightclub where I met Olga Breeskin, a very famous vedette. Needless to say I shot hundreds of photos of all the details.

 

The idea of the eagle was Fernando’s (Rion) but we passed the design back and forth until we were both “content” with the final result.

For me it was a complex design, from both design concept and reproduction angles, but the client was happy.
